Mangosteen and Multiple Sclerosis, Post-Polio Syndrome, Osteoarthritis, GERD (Reflux), and Nerve-Root Compression from A Shattered Lumbar-Sacro Fusion & 4 Missing Spinal Discs

My name is Lynn Leonard. I want to share how drinking Mangosteen Juice has helped me with my Multiple Sclerosis, Post-Polio Syndrome, Osteoarthritis, GERD, Nerve-Root Compression from A Shattered Lumbar-Sacro Fusion & 4 Missing Spinal Discs. I took my first dose of Mangosteen juice, in the form of a unique and patented whole-fruit blended puree on July 1, 2004.

Scientific Evidence: My training and experience as a psychotherapist in private practice inclined me to be very reserved in my expectations of what a fruit juice could do for someone such as I, who had rather serious and complex health problems.  However, I found the vast amount of medical and scientific research regarding this fruit to be extremely impressive. It went back over 30 years.

Dosage: Beginning tentatively with 3 oz per day (1 ounce taken 15 minutes before each of my 3 meals) I did not experience any reduction in the severe pain for which I'd been medicated with large doses of morphine medications in the form of Oxycontin and later MS Contin. The MD who had first placed me on Oxycontin had explained, "Lynn, I could give you something like Celebrex or Vioxx, but they are new and may have unknown side effects. More Ounces Brought Relief: However, when I increased the dosage of juice to 6oz per day, 2 ounces taken 15 minutes prior to each of my three meals, I began to notice rapid and marked improvements in several ways. I first experienced a "healing crisis" in the area of my upper GI tract. This manifested as a Moderate pain over a 6-hour period, and then ended. This was probably the result of the detoxification that was occurring.

Reflux: Subsequently, I realized that the Gastric Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) from which I'd suffered since 1985 had totally abated. It was gone! Having taken Pepcid nightly for more than 6 years, I have now taken no Pepcid since late July 2004. I have had no incidents of reflux and I now eat anything I want, including tomato sauce and chocolate--two foods that previously always triggered reflux.

Pain Medication Reduced and Eliminated: I next noticed a marked decrease in pain. I began to systematically reduce the level of narcotic medication I had been on since June 1998. Over the next 7 months I gradually reduced my use of morphine medication from a high of 230 mgs. daily to NONE as of 1/26/05.

Marked Pain Reduction: The patented Mangosteen juice formula I use has produced two notable effects that have markedly reduced my pain. First, an article in the June 2004 issue of "Molecular Pharmacology" stressed that Mangosteen inhibits (suppresses) the Cox-2 response that causes inflammation, swelling and pain. Quite recently, all of us have heard a lot about Cox-2 inhibitors such as Vioxx and Celebrex and Bextra.

What I have learned from this article is that in contrast to these drugs which also inhibits the Cox-1 response that protects the stomach, intestines and kidneys, MANGOSTEEN DOES NOT INHIBIT THE COX-1 response, and thus leaves it operating to protect those vital organs.

MS Symptom Benefits: This new form of the whole-fruit puree of Mangosteen juice has drastically reduced the amount of muscle spasticity from which I have suffered as a result of having Multiple Sclerosis that has affected my spinal cord, brainstem and cerebellum. Prior to taking this Mangosteen juice, my back, shoulder and chest muscles were so taut that I was hunched forward about 28-30 degrees. I often sat and stood with my toes turned under.

Suddenly in August, THOSE WHO KNEW ME BEST WERE COMMENTING ON HOW MUCH STRAIGHTER I WAS STANDING! Previously, just touching my sternum caused terrific pain. Today I can strike my sternum with my fist and I experience no pain! My counseling clients have all commented saying things such as, "Even your fingers aren't as crooked, and you sit and stand so much straighter than before."

Over the past month here in Arizona there have been three huge winter storms that have dumped much needed rain, hail and snow on nearby areas. In the past I would have been able to predict such changes in the barometric pressure far more accurately than the weather forecasters. But beginning last August I lost my ability to tell when a weather change is on the way because I NO LONGER HURT WHEN THE BAROMETRIC PRESSURE FALLS! Hallelujah!]

There have been other benefits--equally welcomed but less dramatic. I lost 13 pounds without trying within the first 8 weeks of taking Mangosteen juice. I have slept 4-6 hours straight for the first time in 15-20 years. My energy level is greatly increased. And while that can be attributed in part to the morphine reduction, just about everyone I know who takes this juice comments on their increased energy as well. Oh, and my blood pressure has also fallen from the 160/95 range to 105/65. I plan to have my cholesterol levels checked soon since one benefit of Mangosteen appears to be a reduction in bad cholesterol and a rise in good cholesterol.

Acute Pain Reflex & Spasms Gone: Where I once suffered from a "pain reflex" that caused my legs to buckle as a result of nerve root compression in my lower back, I no longer experience that acute pain reflex. Gone are the intensely painful perineal spasms that have plagued me for 25 years as a result of MS. Thanks to this wonderful Mangosteen juice and these marvelous improvements, over Christmas I was able to cook two meals daily for 11 guests over a three-day period without pain and without exhaustion. It was the best Christmas I have had in many, many years. No longer do I find myself leaning on the kitchen countertops in order to stand up for as few as 3 minutes.

In November 2004 I went to a convention in Salt Lake City, and while there I was able to walk several miles a day inside the Salt Palace. Prior to this wonderful juice, I had been unable to walk even as few as 100 feet and have utilized handicapped license plates since May 1980. Today, I no longer use handicapped parking. I leave those spaces available for those who really need them. I no longer do!

But that is not all. On both New Year's Eve and the following Sunday I jitterbugged for the first time in 25 years. On Sunday I was able to do so for 15-20 consecutive minutes. All of these changes are miracles to me--the result of taking 6 ozs. daily of the whole-fruit Mangosteen puree that is loaded with over 40 xanthones--the powerful antioxidants that God created and placed in Mangosteen.. (In all of nature, thus far only 100 xanthones have been discovered and Mangosteen contains more than 40 of them.)

On January 31, 2005 I climbed one-third of the way up Lookout Mountain. Upon returning home I then planted a flowerbed and hit golf balls onto the Mountain Preserve out back. That evening I realized that another major symptom is gone. No longer does my entire right leg from the top of the hip go numb down to all five toes and dangle uselessly after I have sat upright at a table or in a booth at a restaurant. No longer do I need to use a "tush cush" in order to sit comfortably without squirming at meetings or in restaurants. Why this is so is something I do not understand. Perhaps Dr. Templeman can explain it some day.

 My Mangosteen Juice Story

About six months ago my husband became ill.  His whole body and joints were racked with pain.  Some mornings his hands were so swollen that they were useless until he massaged them for hours.  He had no energy or appetite and he was drastically losing weight.  The doctors were doing blood tests, lung x-rays and prostate exams.  They ruled out cancer, but they could not find what was wrong.  They said that it was possibly rheumatoid arthritis.  They prescribed an anti inflammatory drug called NAPROXEN.  That relieved a lot of the swelling and pain.

After a several months the situation was getting worse instead of better.  The medication was affecting his stomach so he was prescribed an over the counter drug called Zantax.

He, also started taking some well known dry vitamins as well as a liquid vitamin.

The doctors decided to do a test that would require that he be off of all drugs (except for over the counter pain relievers) for seven days.

My husband was in sheer agony!  

My friend had spoken about mangosteen juice several times previous.  We were skeptical, but we decided that it was worth a try.  So she provided us with a bottle of mangosteen juice, and after the test was finished he immediately began taking 2 ounces in the morning and two ounces at night. 

About a week later he had his color back! He had a lot more energy, some of his appetite and he was able to cut back to one Naproxen a day!

He was just about out of the mangosteen juice!  But, he still had the dry vitamins as well as the liquid vitamins.  So we didn't get another bottle. 

It wasn't very many days after he finished the mangosteen juice before the pain and swelling were back.  He was lacking energy and he had to start taking the full dose of Naproxen and Zantec AGAIN!

Needless to say we hurried to get more mangosteen juice!  And at the same time I signed up to become a distributor.  At this writing in the last month (December 2004) my husband has only had to take a total of 3 Naproxen pills - IN THE WHOLE MONTH!

I am also taking mangosteen juice and my energy has increased beyond belief.  I now sing mangosteen juice to everyone I know and meet!!!!!!!

About 2 years ago I was in the hospital with several issues, one of which was an increasing high blood pressure.

I passed the 210 over 110 level and medications were increased by a cardiologist to try to bring it under control. My GP, who is a female DO and spent time in research plus residency at a nearby Florida hospital is very knowledgeable and takes a big interest in her patients. She talked to me about several things including a nauseous feeling I had experienced. Within hours she traced my trouble to a blocked artery leading to a kidney.

A procedure to insert a shunt was scheduled and the procedure started. When the blockage was found it was at the intersection of a vein and artery or 2 veins, I do not remember which and because of fear of damage the procedure was abandoned. The kidneys continued their normal process which is to release a chemical to signal the veins and arteries to tighten up, increase pressure and clear the obstruction and this was successful enough to allow my blood pressure to lower.

I was told it was not likely to improve much and I could anticipate with 70% assurance that I would have to experience the same process of increased blockage within the next 12 months.

2 Years have gone by now and I have been taking mangosteen juice for about 6 months. I had a period of fluctuating blood pressure so my GP sent me over for an MRI of my upper body to see the status of my blockage. My GP is very pleased. Much to our surprise my blockage is completely resolved. Although it is not likely it could be improved and no improvement was expected it has completely disappeared and she is very excited as are both my Wife and I.

My Doctor and I discussed my diet and habits and supplements and she feels that although I have been taking other supplements, I was taking them when the blockage developed and the only new supplement or change in my habits has been a careful ritual of taking mangosteen juice daily. My Doctor and I both give full credit for this great improvement in my health to mangosteen. I assume this all has to do with the reduction of inflammation as described in the literature.

I am not concerned with the price of the supplements. Consider that my visit to the hospital 2 years ago cost over $20,000 and my MRI cost over $2,000, the cost of mangosteen juice is a very small investment to make to avoid such expenses so be sure to keep your juices flowing.

I have had high blood pressure since 1969, it was 1st diagnosed when I enlisted in the Navy after graduating college. I failed my physical and therefore was not allowed into the Navy. I have been on several different blood pressure medications over the past 35 years and they all seemed to keep it under control. After starting with the Mangosteen Juice in November 2004 I continued to take the drug Micardis until February 2005. I did not refill my prescription but increased my Mangosteen juice to 2-3 oz. 3 times a day. In April I went to my Dr. for my quarterly checkup and my blood pressure was normal. On July 7, I had my blood pressure check again and it was still normal.

Regarding the diabetes, my blood test in April 2005 showed a Glycohemoglobin reading of 6.4 which is best its been since being diagnosed with diabetes in June 1993. My daily blood sugar readings average around 115. I still take insulin 30 units per day and take the drug Actos in the evening. I hope to reduce my insulin intake over the next 6 months under my Doctor's supervision.

Tooth Ache

I wanted to share a testimony with you about mangosteen. As you know Jesse and I were off the product for a few months and have now began taking it again this week. For the past few days, I have had a terrible tooth ache. The gums had swollen and I have tried antibiotics and pain releiver with no results. Last night the pain was so bad that I couldn't sleep. I just got a shipment of the juice and decided to try it on my gums. I let it sit right in the infected area for about one minute, within less that five minutes the pain was completely gone, this is no exageration! When I woke up this morning, the swelling was back down, I was amazed.

Imagine what it is doing in the rest of your body, when taken on a regular basis! I realize that I don't want to be without this product again!

Here is my mangosteen juice-Horse story:

It started with one approx. 2 month old baby.

We built a Kindergarten for the jungsters where every morning and evening at feeding time the kids are fed in the Kindergarten while their moms are fed in a trap next to it.

One morning one colt stud there - sad - not eating. Temperature 105°F. I called the vet and he gave me instructions on what to administer in order to reduce fever.

We treated him for a day or two when I noticed a filly with heavy diarrhea. When she was standing there she left her tail and diarrhea burst out like from a high pressure water hose! Treating it with medication did not help and after 2 days she was so weak - not nursing or eating or drinking anymore -Next day another foal was sick. Than one more.  I was scared. We had 13 babies this year and I did not want all of them to go through this! - I gave her 20ml of mangosteen juice 3 times that day and by next morning diarrhea was gone!

I continued to give mangosteen juice 20 ml 3 times that day and than twice a day until all the babies were well again.

Meanwhile we treated many of them with Antibiotics but I started everybody the sick ones and the healthy ones in that baby-bunch on mangosteen juice.

Out of the 9 babies only the first 5 got sick with fever, not nursing and not eating. But when I started everyone on mangosteen juice twice a day 20 ml the four remaining babies did not get sick.

All the babies got well - even the worst ones that had high fever in the beginning. Some of them were treated with Antibiotics for 3 weeks and I was scared that they might founder as one of our yearling did a few years ago after a heavy-duty medication treatment for pneumonia.

But none of that happened this time - !

After that my dog Willie had to have two teeth removed.

I gave him mangosteen juice before the surgery and Arnica D6 Globuli.

And I give him mangosteen juice ever since - 12 ml every day - it took him a while to get used to swallow it through a syringe - but now he is a pro!

Whenever I have a sick horse in the barn or a dog or a cat now, it will get the Juice - its expensive - but with Vet bills in the thousands of $ - what's a box of mangosteen juice?

For my part -The Arthritis in my fingers is gone and I don't take any Glucosamine supplements no more - My 15 year-lasting neck pain has disappeared - The pain in my back  has gone and I sleep like a baby which is a miracle after so many years of turning and tossing and waking up a zillion times every night.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's about 25 years ago.  I have not have major problems which required hospital stays.  My episodes manifest as severe stomach pain which could only be alleviated by laying flat for 30-45 minutes.  I was originally given a medication that I was to take daily -- unfortunately, I was allergic to it so I just learned to cope without drugs.

Now, I don't have to worry about sitting for any length of time.  I don't have to worry about if  I'm going to be able to lie down if my stomach hurts.  I have more energy.  I don't get mouth ulcers very often and when I do, they never really hurt and they go away really fast, especially when I swish the juice on them for awhile.

I can participate fully with my 9 year old son's school activities because my stomach doesn't hurt anymore.  Yes, my life has changed drastically.  Thanks for making me think about it again.  I've been on the juice for about 5 months and from the very first drink, I've felt better.  Sometimes, it's easy to forget how much better I feel.

I have had a little pain  from time to time, but very rarely and never where I have had to lie down.  I pray that anyone who has Crohn's will give the juice a real try - at least 3 months - 2-3 oz three times a day.  Don't give up to quickly.  I'm really glad I tried it and, God willing,  I will not be without my juice ever.
